ADVANCE WORKS - CONSTRUCTION OF TWO NEW STOPS ON THE METROPOLITAN TRACK SAN PAOLO

Proceed expeditiously the work that will extend the rail link between the station in Bari Centrale of Ferrotramviaria and the San Paolo neighborhood, enriching it with two additional stops.

The state of the art was done this morning during a visit to the site of the first stop, called "Cecilia", which was attended by the Assessor of the Transport Department of Regione Puglia, Giovanni Giannini, the mayor of Bari, Antonio Decaro, and the General Director of Ferrotramviaria Spa, Eng. Massimo Nitti.

The new station will be located in continuation of the train line that connects Bari Centrale with the stop "Ospedale" and will allow to optimize the service with Hospital San Paolo, affecting a path length of about 1.5 km, that is divided into two functional stages. The first, of about 600 meters, provides for the lengthening of the line in the tunnel and the realization of a new intermediate stop through the realization of a stretch basement that starts from the stop "Ospedale" and ends with the stop "Cecilia". The work will bring to 9 the number of stops in the urban area of ​​San Paolo neighborhood.

Currently, the site of the first batch is in an advanced stage: the artificial tunnel was completed with the demolition of the last wall that divides the new route "Ospedale-Cecilia" from that in actually in exercise Bari-Ospedale. Are being carried out the work for the new station "Cecilia", the architectural finishes, equipment and armament. The end of the work is due in January 2015, and in the following months will pass the activation period.

The realization of the project will further enhance an area of ​​the city that the device is actually "closer" to the city center of the capital city, view the daily attendance witnessed by the excellent data traffic, which in 2013 amounted to more than a million and a 100 thousand passengers.
